Staff Software Engineer – Web, Disney+ Hotstar (Bangalore)
Job Overview: Join Disney+ Hotstar as a Staff Software Engineer and help build a world-class content viewing experience for millions of users. You will tackle complex technical challenges and create systems that operate at massive scale, enhancing video quality and optimizing user interactions across multiple devices.
About the Team: The Customer Experience (CEX) team at Disney+ Hotstar oversees the entire customer journey, focusing on providing seamless, personalized content viewing experiences. With technology spanning over 25+ countries, the team’s goal is to deliver high-quality content with minimal interruptions across all consumer devices, including mobiles, TVs, set-top boxes, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop high-performance applications with engaging user interfaces.
- Optimize applications for scalability and performance across web and living room devices.
- Lead technical initiatives by proposing experiments and data-driven improvements to enhance key performance metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features.
- Mentor and guide other developers, ensuring high-quality code and on-time project delivery.
- Contribute to building next-generation platforms that enable intuitive content discovery.
Skills and Attributes for Success:
- Strong experience in JavaScript and deep understanding of how browsers and playback systems work.
- Expertise in design and architecture patterns, with knowledge of frameworks like React or AngularJS.
- Proficient with Git and code versioning tools.
- Familiarity with video fundamentals and Shaka Player is a plus.
- Enthusiastic about learning new technologies and frameworks, with a passion for open-source contributions.
