Your Role: Site Reliability Engineer
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) in the Resilience Engineering team, you’ll work with application teams to develop software solutions that ensure the reliability and operability of large-scale systems supporting mission-critical use cases. You’ll collaborate with both internal and external teams to build automation tools and implement best practices for SRE.
You’ll join a group of teammates with a “Just Do It” mindset, driven by our shared values of empathy, purpose, growth, and trust. Reporting to the Manager of Site Reliability Engineering, you’ll work alongside SRE professionals across multiple geographies, fostering a truly global team environment.

What You’ll Do
As a Site Reliability Engineer, your role will be centered on ensuring the highest levels of availability, observability, reliability, security, and performance for NIKE’s digital experiences. Key responsibilities include:
- Problem Analysis and Solution Development: Conduct in-depth analyses to identify infrastructure or code defects and establish observability processes for KPIs. You’ll work with product delivery teams to address issues and provide long-term solutions.
- Real-Time Monitoring: Develop and implement real-time monitoring solutions to give teams a clear view of site health and performance.
- Clear Communication: You’ll articulate issues, their impacts, and high-value metrics to leadership confidently. An understanding of the business landscape and how reliability impacts our consumers is essential.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with both business and technical teams to troubleshoot production issues, optimize system performance, and enhance user experiences.
- Incident and Problem Management: Apply IT service management principles (Incident, Problem, Change, and Knowledge Management) to continuously improve system reliability and performance.
- Mentorship and Coaching: Share your knowledge with others, teaching and mentoring team members to build a culture of continuous learning.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages with 1-3 years of experience, including Java, Python, JavaScript, or any modern OOP language.
- Cloud Expertise: Hands-on experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Container Technology: Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies.
- CI/CD Tools: Experience with CI/CD processes and tools like Jenkins 2.0.
- Version Control and Tracking: Proficiency with GitHub for version control and Jira for tracking and ALM.
- Observability Tools: Knowledge of observability tools such as Splunk, SignalFx, or New Relic.
- Database Knowledge: Understanding of both NoSQL and SQL databases, ensuring secure, reliable, and maintainable data storage.
